Blue Ridge Conservancy now accepts cryptocurrency donations!

BRC accepts donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more than 80 additional leading cryptocurrencies. Donating crypto using the widget below is safe, easy, and fast. Upon making a donation, you can elect to receive an automatically generated tax receipt via email. This confirmation of your donation will help you close the loop when calculating your taxes. Crypto charitable gifts to BRC are processed quickly and safely by The Giving Block and Gemini Trust Exchange.

Why donate crypto? Donating cryptocurrency to BRC is tax efficient and can save you money. The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes, which means it is typically the most tax efficient way to make a charitable gift. When donating crypto, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation. That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. If you want to learn more about how donating crypto can lower your taxes, check out The Giving Block’s Crypto Tax Survival Guide. As with any tax-related questions, be sure to consult with a qualified, professional tax advisor. Use this widget to donate crypto now:

Blue Ridge Conservancy can also accept donations of stock or mutual funds, as well as IRA charitable rollover gifts:

IRA Charitable Rollover. If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to transfer up to $100,000 annually from your IRA directly to Blue Ridge Conservancy without first having to recognize the distribution as income. This distribution can count toward your annual required minimum distribution amount.

Stocks, Bonds or Mutual Funds. A gift of stock or mutual funds to BRC may provide you with a greater tax benefit than a gift of cash. Contact us for Stock and Mutual Fund Donation Instructions.

If you have a Donor Advised Fund, please recommend a grant to Blue Ridge Conservancy:
